Again, the only cheap flights to Italy from Ireland that I could find
were on the Belfast to Pisa service, and the cheapest ones were in
mid-week. The previous year, I'd topped and tailed a stay in Umbria
from Saturday to Saturday (the usual rental period) by spending a few
days in hotels, at the start in Pisa and at the end in Lucca.
This time, I negotiated a Wednesday to Wednesday stay in a rented
apartment in Chianni in Tuscany, which meant I didn't have the long
drive to my holiday home. Chianni is just 40 minutes from Pisa airport.
Arrival in Chianna via Pisa. Visiting Volterra. Seaside at Vada.
Up the hill to Rivalto. San Gimignano. Lucca.
Casciano Terme. Lari castle. "Ferie delle Messi" in San Gimignano.
Montecatini val de Cecina. Florence by train. Twice.
