Relais Cavalcanti has a number of special qualities. One, which may seem to be either an advantage or disadvantage, depending on your point of view, is that it is situated above a popular Irish Pub. Well, it wasn't a problem for me, so I booked a week to coincide with the Easter festivities in Florence.
I've already described the ceremony -- Lo Scoppio del Carro -- from a previous visit, so I'll be brief here.

First, and importantly -- are the coypu doing well?

Yes, I know it's predictable, but the hike up the hill to Piazzale Michelangelo is a must.

Parked at San Miniato. Is it a red roller skate?

My near neighbour: il Porcellino.

From my window, I could see the busy ristorante "La Grotta Guelfa", so I had to try it one night. Result: recommended!

I went to Siena on the bus. All by myself.

To see the drinking pigeon.

Next day: the Boboli Gardens.

The Carabinieri cat didn't care

The train is convenient for Lucca. I'm very fond of the Piazza Antifeatro.

Exploding Cart.

That's my window in the centre top...

...and the pub is on the ground floor.

Right next to the Palazzo Guelfa.

Happy lunchtime drinkers below my window.

And I took an urban bus out to Museo Stibbert. You weren't allowed to take photographs. This is one that I wasn't allowed to take.

Last day: say goodby to San Lorenzo.
